1ST SEMESTER PROJECT
Celebration slam
The Celebration Slam was our first semester project. We presented our spoken word with percussion at the Dia de los Muertos Exhibition. We chose about 10 people who we'd think we could work with to create an original poem plus Aleks Lorea playing percussion. All of these poems were performed with everything we needed to be a spoken word.
Here is our Dia de los Muertos Exhibition
2ND SEMESTER PROJECTS
a TINY HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS BOOK
Even though both Humanities and Physics were working on the Tiny Home project, Each class was a different side of the projects. The Humanities side to the Tiny Home project was all about creating the book and interviewing the artists. The very first day we met the artists, we interviewed them. Interviewing them came with a lot of preparation including mock interviews with peers. From those mock interviews we learned about active listening, open ended questions, and transcribing.
.The most challenging part in interviewing the artist had to be breaking the ice. Even though we had a lot of practice with mock interviews and everything, the interview's path was only determined through the answers someone gave to the interviewers questions and those follow up questions you give to those answers. But like everything else, once you get something going, there is no stopping it, which brings me to my next point. Another hard part during the interview was stopping it. We all knew that at some point, we were going to have to stop, but no one knew when that point in time was. The result of that was starting the interview off with logistics and then starting a conversation between Matt, Thomas, and Ernest about the MARVEL superheroes.
Romeo and juliet Character hat
Once we understood middle english literature such as sonnets, we started reading a story written by one of the greatest authors of all time: William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet is a masterpiece full of symbolism and things like sexual innuendos. Anyway, our job was to create a hat based on the character we were assigned, and each character in Romeo had a different personality and the hat we made was supposed to reflect that personality. Below are the steps everyone had to use to make their hat in the link.
