junior year reflection
My favorite academic subject is Humanities because the study of human culture fascinates me. Every day in class I’m intrigued by learning to appreciate the world’s art and literature, and developing skills that are necessary in almost any work environment. The way that this subject has impacted me is huge, because in this class, I can openly talk about philosophical things that I have often wondered about and probably been too afraid to discuss. Not only is this class interesting and fun, it also helps me process my thoughts better and helps me know what I believe in, which is usually confusing for me. I’ve read that most people are more likely to have the same political or religious views as parents or significant people in our lives, and what makes humanities so amusing is that it often puts those beliefs, that could be ours, into question. This sparks discussion and often controversy because there just so much background from so many different people, and I get to see that discussion and all those situations from so many different perspectives. Another thing that I can say that makes this class so interesting is that my peers are genuinely interested, probably as much as I am and I can have serious talks with them that have a mutual impact between us.
